Having made a new avatar I thought I'd stick with pixels and try a whole ship. Then two more. I have once seen a scene quite similar to this, by whom I don't know. In any case I had no visual references before me during this whole drawing, with the single exception of a picture of Victory's head timbers. I might as well at least get those right. 15 Oct 2007 Somewhere between leaving the UK and arriving in Australia I got a DD, which means I also got a few hundred faves. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. I would walk five hundred miles and I would walk five hundred more to be the man who walked a thousand miles to fall down at your door.
Certainly there are several paintings of this general window of time in the battle, and I'm sure all the good ones are based off of records, as maritime artists tend to be very faithful to fact (unless they're named Turner, for example...). So they all should look pretty similar. Funnily, I think most all the ones I've seen are from off the Victory's bow, too -- I would think the stern quarter view would make a very nice image as well, but I've never seen the Redoubtable-Victory set-to from behind.
