Artist's Comments

His Majesty's Bark Endeavour was a small converted collier, formerly the Earl of Pembroke. She became famous as the vessel commanded by Lieutenant James Cook, on his first voyage of discovery to the Pacific Ocean, 1768-1771.

I've drawn this as a coloured draft which allows the true shape of each sail to be shown. Physically however, the ship just couldn't look this way. Done in Photoshop using B&W outlines as a template. Rigging drawn in from personal knowledge and by sitting on the wharf and making notes.

Detail of the bow can be found in my scraps. [link]

HM Bark Endeavour by ~squaresailor is a great technical drawing, full of details and displayed on a soft background to help highlight the ship. The amount of details throughout are really impressive, full view is an absolute must to take in all the hard work that went into this beautiful drawing. (Featured by `Aeires)

Oh, it's just absolutely beautiful! You so such amazing work, you know that? I can't even comprehend how long this must have taken you to do. All my super love goes out to you!
:iconsquaresailor:
In all this took a bit over three weeks working pretty long hours. We were in port only for four weeks and it had to be finished and printed before we put to sea again. Thank you for your kind words and favourite.

Your ship drawings are so detailed. Great work!

It makes it easy when ships are your passion. Thanks for the fave.

Three weeks?! I don't think I could do work that amazing in three years! You do such an excellent job, and your work just heightens my love for sailing! Granted, I'm a total landlubber, but I love just about anything to do with sailing, and I'd die to be able to go on one of these ships!

Then you'll be pleased to know that the paid job I've just picked up is another ship poster. Sadly, not square rigged, she's a three masted bermuda rig schooner, but a nice wee ship nonetheless.

Ooooh! I can't wait to see it!
