His Majesty's Bark Endeavour was a small converted collier, formerly the Earl of Pembroke. She became famous as the vessel commanded by Lieutenant James Cook, on his first voyage of discovery to the Pacific Ocean, 1768-1771.
I've drawn this as a coloured draft which allows the true shape of each sail to be shown. Physically however, the ship just couldn't look this way. Done in Photoshop using B&W outlines as a template. Rigging drawn in from personal knowledge and by sitting on the wharf and making notes. Detail of the bow can be found in my scraps. The amount of details throughout are really impressive, full view is an absolute must to take in all the hard work that went into this beautiful drawing. (Featured by `Aeires) |
